    AT&T wins big at Spirit of Caring Celebration

    United Way of King County awarded AT&T the Spirit of Puget Sound Award—our top honor for corporate philanthropy—at the Spirit of Caring Celebration on March 8.

    The Spirit of Puget Sound Award honors outstanding community involvement, sustained campaign excellence, and the promotion of volunteerism.

    Weyerhaeuser’s 2010 United Way Campaign began the Friday before Halloween with the “Haunted House of Hope.” The haunted house was the idea of Anne Leyva, Weyerhaeuser’s United Way Campaign Coordinator. Employee volunteers worked with Anne to design, build, script, engage volunteer actors, advertise and staff the event. The haunted house event was just one example of how Anne and her campaign team used campaign best practices for a successful, fun and well-organized United Way campaign.

    At the 2010 Spirit of Caring Celebration, we honored Microsoft with the Innovative Fundraising Award for breaking new ground and exploring creative ways to motivate employees to give to its workplace giving campaign.

    Costco takes top honors at Spirit of Caring Celebration

    United Way of King County awarded the prestigious Spirit of Caring Awards on March 3 in front of a crowded ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue. Honorees included individuals and corporations who represented the best in giving and volunteering.

    Costco Wholesale received the Spirit of Puget Sound Award, recognized as King County’s highest achievement in corporate philanthropy. The award honors outstanding community involvement, sustained campaign excellence, and the promotion of volunteerism.
