VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: The SOC Funding Committee is a sub-committee of the Strengthening Our Community Impact Council made up of a diverse group of community volunteers and human service professionals for the purpose of evaluating funding applications and making allocation recommendations to the Strengthening Our Community Council.

We wanted to give a quick update to all of our readers that UWKC’s Strengthening Our Community Council has been hard at work over the past couple of months busily preparing for our upcoming agency application review!  On January 6th, all agencies who wish to apply for either our Older Adults or Youth Development funding should have their applications complete and submitted to UWKC for review.  Once all of the applications are received, lead staff and volunteers will conduct a very thorough review process.  Based…

United Way of King County recently went through a major reorganization in our Community Services Department (this is the department that allocates the money to various non-profit direct service organizations that our Fundraising Department raises).  As a result of this reorganization, two new Community Impact Councils were born, Strengthening Our Community (SOC) and New Solutions (NS).  Both councils do great work that helps to support many programs that work to positively affect the lives of thousands of King County residents each day!  The SOC council…
