Great question! We actually do not have definite plans for another phone bank event like this yet, but in the mean time, check out our other volunteer opportunities with the Bridge to Basics program by clicking here!

What a travesty, Jack in the Box taking Food Stamps, when the unemployed are very often denied food stamps for groceries. The DSS really made a mistake on this one, and Jack in the Box appears very greedy to be taking taxpayer money for Food Stamps, not for groceried, but "fast food"! Dss is getting a letter from me.

Such a great program for the Seattle community! A huge thanks to all the volunteers who donate their time to helping others in need!! As a fellow tax practitioner and former volunteer, I think that programs like this are a real asset to those struggling to understand the tax code and/or afford professional tax prep. It is also a rewarding experience for the volunteers!

Marcy, you touched my heart. I admire your commitment and dedication to a great organization. It's good to know that people like you are using your talent tell the stories of those who are lonely, hurting-- and in so
many ways--invisible.
Thank you.

I love that this post gives an 'insider' perspective. To be behind-the-scenes and support United Way as an employee and still be so impressed with their commitment to help those who need it? That is impressive! A lot of people work nonprofit jobs and get burned out b/c they don't truly feel that they can make the difference they set out to do - but it sounds like Marcy is as inspired as ever! Wherever she ends up next I'm sure that her new coworkers will be ready to welcome her passion and spirit - as a small business owner in King County who tries to give back as much as I can, people like Marcy are the ones I always say, 'Come on in!'

[...] United Way of King County’s Day of Caring was a day devoted to harnessing the power of volunteers! Over 11,000 volunteers from business and community groups fanned out throughout King County to work with hundreds of nonprofits on 400 + projects. The accomplishments of this army of volunteers were remarkable. Seeing so many volunteers at work on behalf of the community was truly inspirational. To access some of these amazing volunteer stories check out the September 28th blog post Great work – great stories.
