“My initial fears were unfounded.”
I don’t know about everyone else, but I was in desperate need of hearing something good at this point in the holiday season. I found it in this article. Take a moment to tell someone near you that you’re glad they’re around. Don’t get sloppy about it, now. :) But just try to remember: if nothing we do really matters, then the only thing that matters is what we do.

I was going to write a post about homeless veterans for today, but instead will simply share Paul Davis’ editorial from Fresno. Mr. Davis is the founder of The Center for American Veteran Empowerment, and he really says what I wanted to say today. Just much better than I could. :-)
Now that we’ve dusted ourselves off from another wacky election season, many of us are now turning our focus to this joyous time of year where simply finding a parking space at the mall has been cause for celebration…But I find it interesting in talking to many of my friends that, this year, it’s different. And I guess it doesn’t surprise me. I mean, unemployment just hit double digits for the first time since the early 80′s. Of course it’s different.
So, what to do? …
This morning, I had a chance to sit in on a candidate forum that included the candidates for Seattle City Attorney and Mayor of Seattle. And while this was the most obvious choice for me in the clogged landscape of election forums happening right now (it was sponsored by Seattle Human Services Coalition, Seattle/King County Coalition on Homelessness, and Washington Low-Income Housing Alliance), I really only attended because I hadn’t seen either mayoral candidate in person since the primary AND, honestly, had…

All of this was accomplished at no cost to our tax customers, and we estimate that we saved our customers over…

This is Yong, recently homeless in Greensboro, NC.
I had a chance to participate in some organized panel discussions recently, and one of the questions for the panelists asked about ‘the face of homelessness’. The truth is, this issue has many faces. I’ll write more about this over the next week or so. But today, I wanted to share this story with you. It’s from a project that I’ve mentioned several times before, invisiblepeople.tv. This is Coreen.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to live in a safe, decent, and affordable home.
In Seattle, we have a chance to ensure that our city can fund the development, construction, and preservation of affordable housing; later this fall, we’ll vote on Proposition 1, the renewal of the Seattle Housing Levy. Seattle has boomed over the past thirty…
