Summertime Opportunity-Supply Drive

The United Way of King County’s next Community Resource Exchange (CRE) is scheduled for October 18 at the Seattle Center. We need volunteers to spearhead supply drives to collect more than 2,000 items to be provided to participants that attend the CRE. Items that are needed include NEW socks and hygiene items (razors, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, lotion, etc.) as well as books (can be second-hand). Interested in leading a supply drive in your neighborhood, club, church, organization, and/or community? Register on our website.

Just a couple highlights from last January’s CRE:

  • 1500 Participants
  • 100 Service Providers
  • 500 Volunteers

And 40 supply drives … lead by organizations and community groups that included:

Community Members,  Greenlake Chruch, Center for Women’s Health at Evergreen Hospital, Interbay Super Supplements, GHD, Inc., Champions, McKinsey & Co., Evergreen Hospital medical Center, Words that Sparkle, FM Global, Vertex Business Services, Latter-Day Saints Student Association, Seattle University Social Work Club, Evergreen Healthcare, Seattle University International Club, Whitman Middle School (just the 8th grade class collected 500 pairs of SOCKS!), Jacobson & Jarvis & Company, Callison, University of Washington Dormitories, Expedia, Inc., AT&T, Chapter3-Retired Public Employees Council, Horace Mann Elementary, Senior Services, 4Culture, Swedish Research Center, Foundation Bank, Rockwell Institute, Cozen O’Connor, Plaza Bank, Alaska Airlines, Providence Health and Services, University of Washington Pediatric Dentistry Department, as well as many of the amazing companies that regularly donate to the UWKC!
