In Remembrance

As I struggle to wrap my brain around the tragic death of John T. Williams (I’m devastated, been staring at my computer for days…I’m sure work will love that), I’m also reminded of others.  Homelessness is deadly.  Sixteen other human beings have died on our streets in King County in the past six months:

Anna Moore, 42, Ballard, Drowned

James Dolan, 73, Seattle, Fall

Randy Leonard, 52, Seattle, Overdose

Matthew Crook, 41, Normandy Park, Suicide by drowning

Chad Venegas, 32, Auburn, Shot to death

Brandi Lambert, 35, Downtown Seattle, Infection

Jeffery Kukkonen, 29, West Seattle Junction, Overdose

Dereje “Teka” Beri, 29, Ship Canal Bridge, Suicide by car

Robert Hansen, 58, Seattle, Natural causes

Tyree Bellinger, 27, White Center, Shot to death

Jason Gaspaire, 33, Seattle, Overdose

David Jensen, 51, Seattle, Overdose

John Huff, 35, West Seattle, Asphyxia

Carlos Candia-Morale, 41, Highway 99, Hit by car

Peter Radford, 27, Lake Union, Drowned

Lee Wheeler, 47, West Seattle, Overdose

I’m curious, how did you compile this list?

Hi, Emily. The statistics on homeless deaths are compiled by the county coroner’s office. I suspect their lists are neither comprehensive nor entirely accurate, but that’s just my opinion.
