How can you help with hunger? Let me count the ways…
Interested in fighting hunger but don’t want to go to a fashion show? There’s tons of different ways you can get involved. Some ways don’t even require you getting up from your computer (which is good for lazy people like me).
1. Download Internet Explorer 8 and Microsoft will donate 8 meals to Feeding America
In a campaign to get people to use IE8, Microsoft is teaming up with Feeding America on a unique campaign. Here’s how it works: every time somebody downloads Internet Explorer 8 from this website, they’ll donate the equivalent of 8 meals to Feeding America.
Yes it’s gimmicky. But if downloading something gets meals to people, I say, why not? You have from now til August 8 to participate!
2. Clicking on the Hunger Site = 1.1 cups of food
The Hunger Site is celebrating its 10 year anniversary. Don’t know what the Hunger Site is? It is a Click-to-Give website where a person clicks on the button and a sponsoring advertiser makes a donation triggered by that click. 100% money raised from the button’s sponsoring advertisers goes to fund food for the hungry through The Hunger Site’s current charity partners: Feeding America and Mercy Corps.
I actually had never heard of this website until today. After clicking, on their big yellow button, I was told that I gave 1.1 cups of food to the hungry. That made me happy.

3. Donate through Facebook Causes, get 15% matched by Kellogg’s
Okay, this one requires you to act quick. Today only, if you donate money through Feeding America’s Facebook page, Kellogg’s will match 15% of your donation. I think this is pretty important because it’ll show how that social media could be a good way to raise money and hopefully will lead to more sponsorships in the future.

4. West Seattle Food Bank raffle tickets for sale
Want a chance to get two unrestricted round-trip tickets on Alaska Airlines or a pearl necklace from Menashe & Sons Jewelers? Then stop by West Seattle Food Bank to pick up a $5 raffle ticket! As well as having a chance to win those prizes, a raffle ticket also gets you a 10% discount at the following restaurants:
- Cafe Revo

5. Donate food to the Seattle Humane Society and adopt a pet for cheaper
Okay, so this almost doesn’t count but pets need food too! If you donate to the Seattle Humane Society‘s Pet Food Bank and adopt a pet this month, they’ll waive the adoption fees for you. That’s a pretty good deal if you need a furry companion!
