So this is pretty cool.

Apparently, on May 5th, there was a low-key, unprecedented meeting of some big-time philanthropists in New York City.  Set up by Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, and David Rockefeller Sr., the meeting included Mayor Michael Bloomberg, George Soros, Eli Broad, Oprah Winfrey and Ted Turner, among others.

According to reports, it was in informal meeting to talk about the state of philanthropy.  There was no set agenda and there was no plan created by the end of it.  It seems like it was just a meeting with like-minded folks.

To me, the craziest thing about it all is that the members of the meeting have given about $72 billion to charity since 1996!  That’s a whole lot of money.

It’s nice to know that we have some really powerful people coming together to talk about giving.  Especially now, when there are even more people needing help.

As a side note, it doesn’t look like Gates or Warren know how to play ping pong.  One ball at a time, fellas.
