One place. One day. One community.

Qwest Field is usually the home of raccous Seahawks fans or Sounders FC supporters. But today, a different crowd of people will be walking through the doors.

Today Qwest Field Plaza will host United Way of King County’s Community Resource Exchange. The event connects thousands of people experiencing homelessness in our region with the services and resources they need, in one place, on one day.

It’s an amazing event that makes a real and lasting difference in people’s lives.

  • At the Community Resource Exchange we held this past fall, the Veterans Health Administration was able to provide emergency housing to a female veteran with two children. The woman had been sleeping in a neighbor’s garage. Housing placement was completed in less than an hour.
  • Free long-distance phone calls allow people experiencing homelessness to connect with friends and family–some for the first time in years.
  • The Department of Health and Human Services will issue electronic benefits cards on site at the Community Resource Exchange. Normally it takes several weeks for people in need to receive these cards.
  • A photographer will be available to take people’s portraits and print out the photos on-site. At the last Community Resource Exchange, a homeless mother and her 3-year-old had their picture taken. The woman said it was the first photo she ever had of her child.
  • The Community Resource Exchange is made possible by the generous support of our sponsors: the Seattle Seahawks, Swedish Health Services and Providence Health & Services Washington/Montana. Thank you!

Thanks also to the hundreds of volunteers for lending their time and energy to this event. We couldn’t have done it without you!
